Fix Your Game With a Golf Training Aid

By: Chad Henry

Golf training aids are designed to focus on improving your golf skills. There are many different golf training aid products and companies. If you are aware of the area that you need to work on to improve your golf game, check into golf training aids. There may be something designed especially for you that gets the results you are looking for.

Improving Your Swing
Swingyde is a lightweight, easy to attach bracket that holds the wrist at the correct angle for striking the ball. This golf training aid will also improve your downswing as well as your follow through. The results are greater accuracy and improved distance. This device works for both men and women and is available for the left and right hand.

Wrist Firm
Wrist Firm is a wrist guard that keeps the left wrist in a firm position. This golf training aid is designed to improve your short game.

Birdballs and StrikePad Set
Now you can practice your swing in a much smaller space without compromising the feel and performance of the golf ball. Birdieball feels like a real golf ball but has a flight distance of just 40 yards. Now you can practice your swing in a smaller space. Birdieball is available in a polymer Super White Series and the Pro Series. The StrikePad provides a divot for your swing shot and recoils after each swing.

The Golf Gym
The Golf Gym is a weighted club available in two weights: the Golf Gym 28 at 1.75 lbs and the Golf Gym 38 at 2.4 lbs. This golf training aid helps you focus on the club head and its position during the down swing.

I Gotcha Ready
This golf training aid is a weight for warm-ups that can be placed at different positions on the shaft for different purposes. If you want to work on your tempo, simply place it at center position. If you are working on a power swing and want to add distance, place it at the grip. Finally, if you are working on increasing your flexibility and strength, place it at the club head for practice swings.

Bushnell Yardage Pro Tour Rangefinder
Wouldn't it be great to know how far you can hit a golf ball with each of your drivers? The laser Rangefinder measures the distance to targets, and then displays the distance on a Liquid Crystal Display. The laser bounces off of objects in the distance, and the rangefinder quickly converts this information into yards or meters.

Swing Speed Radar with Tempo Timer
The Swing Speed Radar with Tempo Timer provides the golfer with swing speed and tempo rhythm information. This information can help golfers fine tune their swing. Golfers can adjust their techniques for a smooth swing, faster club head speed, and longer distances. This golf training aid is simple to operate. It can be set for club head speed, club takeaway time to ball impact, and both swing and tempo.

Check out Jean Littler's golf book for yourself and learn how to swing a golf club the right way!

By Lee MacRae

How To Swing A Golf Club Like A Pro

With swinging a golf club so vital to playing a great game of golf, just about everyone eventually looks for information or lessons on how to swing a golf club. For many it becomes a quest like the Holy Grail, finding the perfect golf swing.

For some people the golf swing seems to be a natural thing. Golfers who've played a lot of baseball seem to be able to transfer that swing to the golf course and are very successful. Hockey players who have practiced the slapshot for years, are also able to transfer that motion to a successful golf swing. For others, nothing seems to work. The perfect golf swing seems to be a dream that is unattainable. Which one are you?

It's important to remember that the basic golf swing can be broken down into individual sections. You have the backswing, you have the downswing, there is the impact moment and there is the follow through of the shot. Some people can put together all of these various components very easily. Others have to study each and every section and work hard to put it all together into one fluid motion. Then there is a factor of the pre-shot routine. Some people have a tendency to dally over the ball, take a few swings, back away, get set up again and then go through the whole routine a different way on each and every shot. And then they wonder why they have no consistency. accomplished golfers and PGA professionals in specific, have very set pre-shot routines that they do exactly the same way on every shot. And their pre-shot routine's are usually very quick and not at all a long drawn out affair that you see Sunday golfers engage in.

And whether you are just taking up golf, or been playing for some time, you should be aware that you have a tremendous tool to improve your golf swing in your golf game. I'm talking about the videos we can all watch today of golf professionals and how they play. And amazingly we also have on demand videos on the Internet that are absolutely free of great golfers like Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh or John Daly or past greats like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Walter Hagan or Gene Sarazen. Imagine being able to sit and watch how golfers, credited with having great golf swings, perform the task. Talk about a golden opportunity to learn.

Of course, videos are often not enough and golf lesson can be a tremendous benefit. Taking lessons from a golf professional and then watching how everything is implemented by the touring professionals can take your game a long way. Of course, not everyone can afford golf lessons, or at least not more than one or two. in that case, you can add something like an e-book that you can use to study and apply with your lessons and your videos. A book that has been highly recommended is one by golf Hall of Fame legend Gene Littler. He was nicknamed "Gene the Machine" due to his smooth rhythmical swing. Littler believed that, "Golf is not a game of great shots. It's a game of the most misses. The people who win make the smallest mistakes." A great philosophy and obviously the kind of teacher to help improve a golf swing and golf game.

If you do want to improve your game and learn how to swing a golf club properly, you would do well to use the available golf videos and other available help like golf lessons or golfing eBooks. Improving your abilties in the golf swing will do a lot to not only improve your game, but you will enjoy it a whole lot more. So, you can continue to drive your shots every which way and suffer or spend your money wisely and really learn how to swing a golf club properly. The decision is up to you.

Neutral = Straight. There are two key alignments to strive for at the top of the swing that will make hitting fairways much easier. The most important of the two is the clubface position, which should be square (the leading edge basically is parallel to the left arm). Learning this position will remove the need to compensate on the downswing with the hands. Positioning the club parallel to the target line is also extremely important.
Don't forget to pick up some golf tees before you head to the links.

The lower body should serve to support the movement of the upper body by leading the backswing. Flexed and relaxed, the legs are able to be moved by the rotation of the upper body, in no way inhibiting the turn. While the legs dont initiate the backswing, they contribute to the wind up of the body against the ground. A good thought is to imagine the legs as braces that connect you to the ground.

Sometimes you can find a brand new set of clubs for less than what that set is selling for used. How does this happen? Say someone buys a set and decides to sell it a year or two later. The set may be in great shape and can justifiably be priced high. But in the meantime, the manufacturer may have steeply discounted new sets due to high inventory, discontinued production or numerous other reasons.

Is Your Practice Swing Better Than Your Real Swing?

By: Jonathan Barrett

Why is my practice swing often better than my real golf swing?

When I understood the answer to this question it made a big difference to my golf swing. How many golfers do you see on the tee making a nice free practice swing and then duff or slice the ball with their real swing? It happens doesn't it, it happens a lot. Well, I came to realise that when I understood the journey that the golf club needs to take around your body then I also realised where so many amateur golfers were going wrong with the difference between their practice swing and their real swing.

You see when you understand that the golf swing is about technique not aggression then your body starts to work differently.

When you make your practice swing you remain relaxed and free moving. When you make your real swing you immediately start to tense the big muscles in your body particularly your back and shoulders. Your brain starts telling you body 'look guys if we want to hit this ball a mile then we need to put loads of effort it' - WRONG!

Next time you swing - remember to keep your back and shoulder muscles relaxed so that your real swing is as good and as free as your practice swing.

Remember the proper and most efficient golf swing is all about technique not aggression.

The answer to this question lies in the way we think the golf swing works - we need to convince ourselves that the Pro Golfers swing works - Power without effort - and we too will follow their lead.

A good exercise to demonstrate that loose muscles work better than tense muscles is to try running down your garden with loose muscles then tense your muscles and try again - the difference is dramatic isn't it and the golf swing is no different, we need to keep our muscles relaxed for them to work effectively.

Tensing prior to moving doesn't help - you need to relax to let your muscles work properly at the right point in your swing.

One of the main problems that generates this tensing motion is caused by the way many amateur golfers practice. How many golfers have you seen at the golf range who go straight for their driver and start trying to knock the ball out of the range? Many I would guess. These golfers are simply trying too hard. Golfers should concentrate on accuracy on the range not distance i.e. how close can I hit it to a line from me to the target?

One way of practising that takes out the need to try and knock the skin off the ball is to use plastic balls, you know the ones you can by from the golf shop. Once you start hitting these balls you quickly realise you can't hit these balls 300 yards so don't try to. It results in you concentrating far better on technique. They also have the added benefit that you only need about 30 yards of space to practice in.

The shove type: The word shove is misleading. An actual shove is illegal. It's only a feel. What gives this shove feel is the stroke is made with a very short backswing and a long followthrough. The advantage of this type of stroke is the shorter the backswing, the less chance of error.

When buying used golf clubs line up the clubs and compare the clubs throughout the set. Make sure they all appear to have been in the original set. You don't want a set that has different shaft types or models from club to club, or where there is not a normal progression of lengths from club to club. Mixing and matching can also throw off the progression of lofts throughout the set.

Wedges

If you're unsure of your dedication to golf, or if you have a history of taking up a hobby only to drop it later, used clubs might be a good choice. They'll be much cheaper, of course, than new. And because they'll be so much cheaper, they can be easily replaced later.

Speed Controls Distance. The seemingly obvious fact that the sand (not the club) moves the ball out of the bunker is often misunderstood. To control the distance your bunker shots travel, you have to be able to manage the speed of the sand, which isnt as difficult as you might imagine. The length of the swing is irrelevantits the speed of the clubhead that really matters. Practice pitching sand out of a bunker until you can consistently control how far it goes, and only then add a golf ball to the equation.

Keep Your Hands Low
Limiting the height of the followthrough will effectively reduce the height of your shots. The lower the hands, the lower the ballflight. Moving the ball back in your stance or choosing a stronger club and trying to swing easy are other ways to accomplish the same thing, but they're less reliable and more difficult to execute. Instead, keep your hands low in the finish (compare the two photos at right), and the trajectory of your shots will be lower.

Learning The Correct Golf Instruction Swing Sequence

By Mike Pedersen

There are three segments of the golf instruction swing sequence. They are namely the back swing, the down swing and thirdly the impact and follow through.

The first golf instruction swing sequence is the back swing, which is very important to the entire golf swing. This is because if the technique is not correct at this early stage, the other parts of the golf instruction swing sequence will not matter and the result will be a very poor drive.

The main focus at this stage of the golf instruction swing sequence should be on body rotation and club and arm extension.

The downswing golf instruction swing sequence actually starts with the legs and hips rather than the arms, which does the actual swinging of the golf club. There should be a clear transfer of body weight from back to front with the knees, thighs and hips all starting to move forward. This is the correct instruction for the downswing segment of the golf swing sequence.

Finally at impact the body weight should be on the outside of the forward heel and the inside of the rear foot. This is the only correct golf instruction for this swing sequence.

Getting the golf instruction swing sequence right is really impossible without golf-specific exercises to condition and strengthen the relevant muscles. What you should remember is that the golf swing is usually a very alien and unnatural movement, which the body violently resists.

This is the reason why it is so difficult to get right the golf swing, something that looks so simple and easy to master when you look at it from a distance.

Golf specific exercises are a very effective way of getting the body to adjust so that it will be a lot easier to master the golf instruction swing sequence.

Personal club fitting should you get clubs to be made just for you or are "off the rack" ones OK? The answer depends on you. If you find clubs which seem to feel good and you can hit the ball well with them, then off the-shelf ones are fine. If nothing seems to work right for you, consider having your clubs personally sized and weighted at shops which specialize in tailoring clubs for the individual. But find out the details on their policy for club returns or replacement in case you have any problems.

The driver is now a specialty club, much like a putter. Our set-up, ball position everything is different from any other club in the bag. You shouldn't be hitting the ball at the bottom or apex of the golf swing like a fairway wood. The ball should be struck past this point, on the upswing. This will lead to a higher launch angle and lower spin rate which is how we are going to hit the ball farther than we ever have before.
